I stood next to Robert Bagdonas, who has Down Syndrome, last night at the IL vigil held to encourage politicians to revise the 2.24 billion budget cut going into effect tomorrow. The list of effected programs is long, but the one that effects Robert the most is vocational support.
“I don’t like to stay home alone”, stated Robert.
IL support programs are in place to provide Robert with vocational supports and community living supports if needed in the future. With these budget cuts, his resources will be gone and family will need to find the funds and resources to bring a quality to his life.
We all need to make a difference for those who need a strong voice.
Why do I care so much? Robert Bagdonas is my brother.
