It has been the goal of many parents who have students in special education to move towards an inclusive environment. However, before you start asking for an inclusive program, there are many things to consider. What is really going on inside of our public school, mainstream classrooms.
No Child Left Behind has had a significant impact on the quality of education within our schools. An IEP allows a parent to have input on their child’s curriculum. A mainstream student’s family does not. They are bound by the standards that NCLB has set and the daily curriculum reflects the need to “teach to the test”.
